North Star Fertilizers

Up in northeast Saskatchewan, where Mother Nature is known to be testy at times, Aaron Serhan was allowed an opportunity to sell anhydrous. In April of 1987, he was young and eager to take a chance with the start of a full-service ag retail business. North Star fertilizer started very small in Prairie River, Saskatchewan on a very small budget with two part-time employees. In 1989, Aaron added dry fertilizer to the business and never looked back as the business continued to grow and add more services and product lines. In 2003 North Star added a location in Hudson Bay, then acquired Peesane in 2007, and Arborfield in 2009, and now has over 30 full-time staff members.
Aaron attributes the success of North Star Fertilizer to being a company that has been able to retain great staff with very minimal turnover and offering products and services to meet the grower’s needs with great agronomic advice to help the grower to be profitable and strive for the most possible net dollars per acre, which is the best win-win for the grower and North Star.
North Star Fertilizer, being local, also believes that supporting local businesses and organizations keeps the money in the community. North Star supports all the local nonprofit organizations and minor sports along with helping the local, small-town rinks and halls to do major upgrades to keep them alive in the communities.
