Grow Academy takes on Grain Marketing at Fall Classic

On November 28th, 53 Business Agronomists from Grow Community of Independent dealers across Western Canada gathered in Edmonton, Alberta to kick off Grow Academy’s first ever Fall Classic.

The session lasted four days, which included two days of grain marketing education, a topic that many partners of the community felt would be valuable information that they could take back to their businesses and would be useful for their growers.

Special presenters included Chris Corbett and Brenda Tjaden Lepp from FarmLink Marketing Solutions, who put on four specialized grain marketing sessions within the two days. Brenda Frank from FCC and Gil Assie from MNP gave updates with respect to how the recent economic changes may impact agriculture in Western Canada. Rob Davies, CEO of Weyburn Inland Terminal and Grow partner, commented on what the new grain marketing environment may look like if the proposed changes to the CWB are implemented.

A second session was held in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan from December 6th to 9th and was attended by 61 Business Agronomists. This session featured a presentation by Sal Guatieri, Senior Economist with BMO, as well as remarks from Greg Andrukow, of Andrukow Group Solutions, on what it takes to be successful in today’s business environment.
